At GMS, we strive to provide the highest quality service and innovative solutions for US Navy and Cruise line galley ventilation systems.
Asa K. Gaylord invented the Gaylord Ventilator and founded Gaylord Industries in 1936. Asa’s son, Edson C. Gaylord, took over in 1974 and directed its growth into an internationally renowned company. Ed’s son, Todd E. Gaylord began working for Gaylord Industries in 1978. During his tenure, Todd mastered nearly every function including manufacturing, engineering, sales and service. Ed would exclusively send Todd to service Gaylord’s most prestigious account, the United States Navy. It was in the Service Department that Todd found his calling. Soon after the sale of Gaylord Industries to Illinois Tool Works (ITW) in 1999, Todd left to begin his own company, Gaylord Marine Services, Inc. Since then, GMS has established long-term customers by providing the highest quality parts, service, detergents as well as modernizing ventilator control technology. GMS has expanded into designing and manufacturing water wash controls, dampers and grease interceptor hoods.
GMS has extensive galley experience in the commercial cruise line industry and US Navy fleet offering our clients a full range of hood styles to meet the galley grease extraction requirements and budgets.
GMS provides in-house design services to assist Naval Architects and Shipyard Engineers in selecting and designing Galley ventilation systems. We’ll identify your needs and create an effective solution that meets your application, whether it be new construction or retrofit.

GMS canopies are built to a high standard using high grade stainless steel which meet the necessary criteria demanded by galley designers and end users alike. The type and style of galley canopy will depend entirely on the cooking equipment in place and level of grease extraction required, but will also be designed with the general galley environment in mind.
